Authentic Movement

A contemplative practice of non-directed movement, inner listening, and compassionate witnessing — offered in person.

Important: Authentic Movement groups are offered as a somatic and expressive arts practice, not as licensed psychotherapy or mental health treatment. These groups are open to adults regardless of therapy history.

What is Authentic Movement?

Authentic Movement is a contemplative movement practice rooted in the relationship between a mover and a witness. The mover closes their eyes and follows the impulses of the body — without choreography, without direction, without judgment. The witness holds the space with open attention and compassion.

Developed from early explorations in dance therapy and active imagination, Authentic Movement has evolved into a practice that lives at the intersection of art, meditation, and embodied awareness. It is not about how movement looks, but what it reveals.

No dance or movement experience is necessary. The practice welcomes all bodies, all levels of mobility, and all ways of being present.

Why I offer authentic movement

As a board-certified dance/movement therapist, my relationship with movement runs deep. Authentic Movement represents the contemplative heart of my work — the place where clinical training meets personal practice, and where the body is honored as teacher.

These groups are not therapy. They are an offering to my local community — a space to slow down, listen inward, and connect with others through the shared language of the body.
